Expert help in digitisation.
We can provide expert help in planning and identifying requirements for digitisation and a sounding board for Information Technology (IT) projects.
ILRT is home to JISC Digital Media, a JISC Advisory Service. JISC Digital Media provides technical advice and guidance to academic colleagues planning and implementing a programme of digital resource creation. We also provide a consultancy service to the wider higher education and cultural heritage sector.
The JISC Digital Media website features a wealth of freely available advice, documentation and resources designed to help you with a wide range of issues relating to the creation, management and use of digital media in learning, teaching and research.
We can also provide advice on IT equipment, software and standards for both digitisation and other projects. A discussion with one of our development team can help estimate costs and requirements or highlight an existing solution that requires no cost or effort at all.
Theatre Collection
We helped colleagues in the Theatre Collection with putting the proposal together, assisted with the setting up and calibration of the scanning equipment, defined metadata standards and customised a project database. We also provided tailored training to project staff in digital capture and cataloguing.

Brunel Collection
We advised on the project bid, defined technical specifications, metadata and QA standards, sourced and tested digital camera equipment, and provided training in its use.
19th Century Pamphlets Online
We prepared a detailed scoping study and wrote a successful bid for this very large (£1M) digitisation project. We seconded a part-time project manager to the project and the Internet Development group developed a database to manage part of the project workflow.
